Overview

We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Network Engineer to oversee our complex networking infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of both traditional and modern networking technologies, ensuring our operations are seamless and secure.

** In office (Hickory, NC) 3 days a week ***

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures in alignment with the company's objectives and architecture.
  • Manage Cisco routing and switching environments to ensure robust connectivity and network health.
  • Configure and maintain Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) for optimal security and performance.
  • Develop and oversee the deployment of SD-WAN solutions to enhance network flexibility and efficiency.
  • Work extensively with Cisco Nexus configurations in data center environments to ensure scalability and performance.
  • Implement and troubleshoot Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN) setups within data center networks.
  • Design and manage Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and other advanced routing protocols to ensure reliable and efficient network traffic handling.
  • Design and manage cloud networking including security postures and connectivity for cloud provider access (Azure, GCP, AWS, etc).
  • Perform regular network assessments and upgrades, including security audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and external stakeholders to define network requirements for new projects and technologies.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior network engineering staff.
  • Develop, update, and communicate project plans including information such as project objectives, systems, and information specifications.
  • Track systems' capacity and propose appropriate measures proactively.
  • Effectively communicate issues and solutions that impact business.
  • Perform risk management planning, risk identification, and mitigation.
  • Assist management in continually refining and improving the communications infrastructure by researching and introducing new standards, guidelines, technical capabilities, and new work processes.
  • Assist other groups with the planning and implementation of new applications within the organization.
  • Document and drive issues through resolution, escalation to team members, vendors, and IT management as necessary.
  • Ensure that infrastructure projects conform to departmental standards for quality, security, recoverability, efficiency, and design.
  • Actively participate in Change Management, project implementation reviews, and security design reviews.
  • Work with management to develop network requirements and budgets.
  • Continually stay abreast of new technologies that could make our network more secure, efficient, and effective and make recommendations based on extensive research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in full stack network engineering, with specific expertise in Cisco routing and switching.
  • Proficient with Palo Alto NGFWs and SD-WAN platforms.
  • Expertise in data center networking environments, including hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus Spine/Leaf deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of VXLAN, eVPN, and advanced routing protocols like BGP.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
